Buyer FAQ

These are the questions buyers and procurement teams ask before engaging. For technical questions about NixOS, see the technical FAQ.

Currently booking Q4 2026 and Q1 2027. See also the /now page for what I'm currently shipping.

What does a typical first 90 days look like?

Discovery (1 to 2 weeks): I assess your needs, constraints, and current stack. Output: a scope document with recommendations and a proposed path.

Pilot (1 to 3 months): fixed-price engagement to deliver a working system on a limited scope. Output: a production-ready proof that demonstrates the approach works in your environment.

Mission (3 to 36 months): fractional CTO or architecture mission. Output: production systems, team enablement, and a clean handover.

What's your pricing model?

Fixed-price for Discovery. Time and materials for missions. Rates on request.

What's the smallest engagement you accept?

Discovery. One to two weeks, fixed price. It gives both of us a chance to assess fit before committing to a longer engagement.

How do you handle handover to an internal team?

Every engagement includes handover as a deliverable. Documentation, runbooks, and training are part of the scope from day one, not an afterthought. The goal is that your team can operate what I build without me.

What happens with IP ownership of deliverables?

It depends on the nature of the deliverable. For open source projects, the work is contributed upstream or released under an open license. For client-specific work, IP ownership by the client is feasible and can be structured into the contract. We agree on this during Discovery.

Can you work under our NDA before kickoff?

Yes. I sign NDAs routinely. Discovery can happen entirely under NDA if needed.

Have you worked under SecNumCloud or equivalent constraints?

Yes, both directly and in an advisory capacity. I have operated infrastructure within SecNumCloud-qualified environments, and I have helped clients prepare for SecNumCloud qualification. I understand the operational constraints and the audit expectations.

Can you work with our existing infrastructure?

Yes, I can work with mixed infra but I operate in contexts where a minimum of automation and ops maturity is available.

Can you be on-site within 48h?

For clients in France: yes, regularly. For clients in DACH: typically within a week, depending on the engagement. Remote-first for day-to-day work, on-site for critical milestones.

What's your subcontracting policy?

Omnicité can subcontract to trusted partners when the engagement requires capacity beyond what the cooperative can provide directly. Subcontracting is subject to your approval.

Languages?

French (native), English (fluent). Technical work and documentation in either language. I do not currently work in German, but I can engage with German-speaking teams through English.

Geographic service area?

France (on-site), EU/EEA (on-site or remote), remote worldwide for architecture and advisory work.

Insurance?

Omnicité carries professional liability insurance (RC Pro). Coverage details available upon request.

Compliance frameworks?

I work within ISO/IEC 27001, NIS2, ANSSI guides, RGS, SecNumCloud, Diffusion Restreinte, and OTAN RESTRICTED. I help clients engage with these frameworks and prepare for audits.

References?

My GitHub. Here are a few I like at the moment: Sécurix and hardened admin terminals for S3NS. Details and other specific references on request.
